I'm just a girl... Driving a Chevy Traverse

As you may or may not know I was chosen to be part of a promotional piece for the Chevy Traverse. Basically I get to drive a Traverse for a month and all I have to do is blog about it. This morning the promotional website, Mom's Time Out, went live. My blog and video are being seen for the first time.
Please check out my blog and video. I would love for you to make a comment on my blog as well as the Mom's Time Out website.
disclosure: the comments made about the Chevy Traverse are the thoughts and feelings of myself and the others around me. They may or may not reflect the thoughts and feelings of the Chevy dealerships.

Fashion Friday with Etsy- Sex in the City 2

Oof Dah!, (that's right, I just dropped an "oof dah" bomb, I am Minnesotan after all) it has been a insanely crazy and busy week and I have been loving every second of it!!!!
Yesterday I was officially given my Chevy Traverse which I will drive for a month and blog, as well as vlog, about every detail. It's part of the "Mom's Timeout" Chevy promotional series. I have been busy taking videos and coming up with ideas on how to put the Traverse through the full gamet of Mommy tests. I'm not sure Chevy knew what they were getting into when they chose me to test drive their Traverse. Anyway, more blog posts on the Traverse will be coming very very soon. For now, I have an obligation to deliver the Fashion Friday!

Sex in the City 2 is all over the place and I am loving it. I did a quick search for photos from the movie and I found this...
"Are you freakin' kidding me?, " is what I blurted out when I laid my eyes upon this gem of a pic. Mrs Parker - you are my new BFF. I love this photo! Vintage luggage, vintage jeans and the off the shoulder top.... it's almost as if SITC read my mind. Needless to say I have jumped all over this photo for today's Fashion Friday.

Maybe you've seen the full size dressforms (see pic below) available on Happy Day Vintage? I have now created miniature versions otherwise known as "Shorties". These are are perfect for necklaces, rings, bracelets, headbands, and just about anything else you can imagine.
I am currently in the process for creating a website specific for the dressforms (both full size and shorties). Until then I wanted to give you a quick sneak peak of what's to come for Happy Day Vintage.

Introducing Dressforms by Dana

Chevy picks Bloggers to Drive the Traverse

Picture taken from the Chevy Traverse website

Exciting news... Chevy has chosen me to be part of their "Mom Squad". The Mom Squad is a group of blogging moms who get the opportunity to drive a Chevy Traverse (gas included!) for an entire month. All we need to do is blog about it.
I was chosen because of the traffic my Happy Day Vintage blog, as well as the other Happy Day Vintage social media sites, generate. A huge thank you to all the Happy Day Vintage followers, fans and readers for your support. I never would have been chosen without you!
Those of you who live in the MN metro area... be sure to tune in to the Kare 11 Morning News on Thursday, May 20th. I, along with the other mom bloggers, will be given our cars live on television. There's a good (okay great) chance I'll make a total fool of myself - you wouldn't want to miss that, would you?
Keep checking back with my blog for more information on the Chevy Traverse promotion. I will be posting regular blogs as well as videos on how the Traverse lives up to my standards as both a mom and a business owner.

On with Fashion Friday!!!!!
Prada's fall 2010 collection mimics the 50's look of Mad Men. Classic, elegant with a touch of saucy. I for one am singing "Helliaugh" at the top of my lungs. I love these dresses but I'm not so keen on the price tag of $760- $855. Never fear my loves, I have found some amazing genuine vintage dresses on Etsy which will give you the Prada look for SO MUCH LESS!

LEFT: Vintage 50s CREAM LACE PINK TAFFETA ILLUSION PARTY DRESS-XS $148.00
MIDDLE: 1950's vintage THE PIED TULIP dress $98.00
UPPER RIGHT: Vintage 1950s PAT SANDLER Dress - Corset Bodice Full Skirt $175.00
LOWER RIGHT: vintage dress- 1950's SPRING GREENS $46.00

Keeping Flowers Fresh

Happy Belated Mother's Day!
Did you get flowers for Mother's Day?, or do you know a Mom who got flowers? I ran across these tips from Woman's Day on how to keep your flowers living longer using common household items.
Perfectly Pink from Illusio Creative for $20.00

The following tips were taken from Woman's Day:

Step 1: Add 1 quart warm water to a clean vase.

Step 2: Pour 2 Tbsp sugar into the water. The sugar will help nourish the flowers and promote opening of the blooms.

Step 3: Add 2 Tbsp white vinegar and stir well. The vinegar helps inhibit the growth of bacteria and keeps your flowers fresher longer. If you don’t have vinegar and/or sugar, lemon-lime soda mixed with the water will do the same thing.

Step 4: Remove all lower leaves from flowers so there won’t be any in the water.

Step 5: Cut 1 to 2 inches off the stems at an angle while they are under water.

Step 6: Arrange your flowers in the vase.

Step 7: Display your boquet in a cool, draft-free area. Avoid direct sunlight, which causes the flowers to die more quickly.

Step 8: Change the water every other day and re-cut the stems each time.

Step 9: Enjoy your long-lasting flowers!

Other Pointers:
• Tulips grow a few inches after they are cut and will continue to grow toward the closest light source.

•Hyacinths should not be cut down off the bulb. They actually last longer if left on the bulb.

• Daffodils should not be put in a vase with other flowers. They secrete a substance that kills other flowers when in the same vase.
